Hi all…In the next couple days I will send you a video of the teaching I did on March 1st talking about how to do Meditative Bible Reading with the goal of hearing God.
I realize that if you have never done anything like this it may seem confusing without an outline or schedule, etc. So here are a couple ideas to get you started.
Try reading only 1-2 verses. Then re-read it (out loud if possible) 2-3 more times looking for (alert to) a sentence or phrase that catches your interest. If something catches your interest, stop, chew on it, talk to God about it. Then enjoy a few seconds of simply relaxing. If nothing catches your interest, that's perfectly fine! Enjoy a few seconds of holy leisure, and then go be the Child of God in your world.
Try reading a whole paragraph. As you re-read it (aloud) 2-3 times…(do as stated in the first idea).
Try reading a whole chapter. Take several days re-reading the chapter in different Bible versions. Jot down any phrases/words that catch your interest. Compare those with the other Bible versions you used…and even more (if using the internet: www.biblegateway.com
As much as possible…take your time, converse with God, rest for a few seconds (or minutes!), and then go do that thing you do.
